Troubled Brakes, Harley Davidson in Investigation


American highway safety agency (the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration / NHTSA) issued a statement, related to an investigation of Harley Davidson Inc (HD).


Reuters on Saturday (07/09/2016), reported that the investigation was based on suspicion of a problem with the brakes, in some models of Harley-Davidson. This problem starts of protest dozens of customers.

The investigation involves 430,000 motorcycles 2008-2011 HD product that is equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS). The statement issued by NHTSA on Friday (07/08/2016). 

"We know and aware of this investigation. Moreover, we also cooperate with NHTSA," said a spokesman for Harley-Davidson, Maripat Blankenheim.

NHTSA reported that it has received 43 complaints, three reports of accidents and two reports of injuries. Complaints of the motorists could have been due to the negligence of the owner of the vehicle, in performing routine maintenance, such as replacing brake fluid every two years.

But it was still deeper investigation, the report related to consumer HD.
