Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The main reason of the investigation was not made public, but sources of Automotive News said there was an error in FCA sales reports in the United States (US).
Investigations carried out this July. Authorities have already visited the FCA office in Orlando, Florida, Dallas, Texas, and California. Even the information has been collected from some former employees FCA.
In the official statement on Monday (7/18/2016), the FCA stated, in cooperation with the SEC related to reports of annual retail sales in the United States and financial statements within a quarter.
"Note about FCA's revenue based on shipping to dealers and consumers and is not based on vehicle unit sales reports to the final consumer," said FCA.
FCA instructed employees not to speak about this issue except with a lawyer. The investigation was initiated by the US Department of Justice.
